The Black Cardinals were one of Sydney`s finest bands. Heavy blues rock delivered with an assured swagger. Hip shaking riffs and powerful, soulful, commanding vocals. Shaking stages on Australia`s east coast, garnering a large and loyal following, it was all over in six short but highly creative years. The band were on an upward trajectory when the pandemic rudely interrupted the world, and they had to bide their time like everybody else. Bursting out of lockdown with new tunes again, bigger things were calling. Festival additions and international tour support slots beckoned. It didn’t matter whether you saw The Black Cardinals in a pub, club or theater – they blew you away! The band was highly original and its output was consistently of exceptional quality. The core of the band, vocalist Craig Cassar and guitarists Eric Wong and Jonny Goldrick, remained throughout a couple of line-up changes along the way. Original drummer Tomas Bateman and bassist CJ McKenzie gave way to Elias Vilches and Evan Hughes. Finally, Andy Lawrence joined the band on bass and remained until the last gig in 2025. Unfortunately, a health issue with a key member of the band meant that it all had to end. The band decided not to carry on from that point. A final gig was scheduled in October 2025. It was a bittersweet evening as the band, fans and key players from the Sydney music scene gathered for one last time. It was an emotional but triumphant send off for an amazing band. The band had recorded material which was only available via streaming services. No physical artifact existed to mark what was The Black Cardinals. This was lamented by two long-time fans of the band who brought that fact to the attention of Rizz Records. The result is a self titled mini-LP of all The Black Cardinals recorded work. Every stunning riff, explosive lick and those soulful compelling vocals. The music leaps out of the grooves and takes you straight back to those legendary gigs.
Limited edition and numbered 150 copies only, first time Vinyl Mini LP release covering all their recorded output. First 100 copies come with a bonus CD version with Alternate cover art.
