[ERA : 60s, 70s / Pop, Rock, R&B, Psych ]

March 2023 Frenzy release. Double CD with detailed 16 page insert filled with band history, photos & posters. Australasia's first supergroup - The Groove featuring Peter Williams (ex Max Merritt & The Meteors) on vocals and Rod Stone (ex Librettos) on guitar. Now on CD for the first time. Plus their unreleased 1970 album as the newly named Eureka Stockade. The Groove quickly established themselves as one of the top Australian groups during their 3 year career on the back of six hit singles, all of which are featured on this collection. They won the prestigious Hoadley’s Battle of the Sounds in 1968 by beating the Masters Apprentice and Doug Parkinson In Focus. To cap off a successful year they were voted the third best Australian band in the national Go-Set readers poll behind The Twilights and Masters Apprentice’s. Mid 1969 saw the group in the U.K., and while the future looked promising, wider success eventually alluded them. They were paid the ultimate compliment by Chas Chandler who was looking for a new act to replace Jimi Hendrix, but his offer to manage them was too late, they were in the final stages of breaking up.
