CHAIN
(CD)
[ERA : 60s, 70s / Blues, Blues Rock ]
Chain of course are THE great Australian blues/blues-rock band, best known for their unforgettable 1971 hit single Black & Blue. This collection, originally released on Mushroom as a 2LP set in 1974 and now expanded to a 2CD set, is a perfect companion piece to their classic, never-out-of-print, Infinity/Festival Records first studio album Towards the Blues. Bringing together the best tracks from their other early albums, as well as rare singles and three truly primal live tracks (including an early performance of Black And Blue, introduced by Matt as Groaning) featuring the classic line-up of Matt Taylor, Phil Manning, Barry Harvey and Barry Sullivan. For this new edition FESTIVAL has also added the single version of Black And Blue, together with two songs that originally appeared on Mushroom's Garrison :The Final Blow Unit 2, recorded live at the legendary Garrison nightspot in High St., Prahran in 1973. These last two tracks have been out of print for forty years! The album has been beautifully remastered from original tapes by Aztec Records' audio guru (and former Billy Thorpe & the Aztecs drummer) Gil Matthews, and it sounds better than ever.
