Over the past twenty years, Andrew Kidman has earned a dedicated following as a filmmaker and singer-songwriter.Five films, eight albums of original music, and a series of band line-ups later, Kidman's vision has expanded into widescreen panorama in The Windy Hills, a five-piece band including Jay Kruegner, Paul Brewer, Martin ÔJose' Jones and DB Porter. Since solidifying five years ago around the concept of performing live soundtracks choreographed to Kidman's film footage, The Windy Hills have toured the US, selling out their show at the New York Surf Film Festival; performed at Splendour In The Grass, the Perth International Arts Festival, Mullum Music Festival and Apollo Bay Music Festival. They've spent the past two years writing and recording in their home studio in the hills behind Byron Bay, resulting in Fall Of Planet Esoteria. At the same time, Kidman has been busy directing the official sequel to iconic 1972 surf film, Morning Of The Earth. Titled Spirit Of Akasha, its breathtaking vision is accompanied by a momentous soundtrack including contributions from Brian Wilson, Dirty Three, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Atoms For Peace, Grouplove, Xavier Rudd, Andrew Van Wyngarden (MGMT), The Windy Hills and more.
