BUSHWACKERS BAND
(CD)
[ERA : 70s / Rock, Australiana ]
The Bushwackers Band (often referred to as simply The Bushwackers) was formed in La Trobe University, Melbourne, in 1971 and was dedicated to performing and recording traditional Australian folk music. Eventually their recordings showed the influences of British Folk-Rock groups (notably Steeleye Span) in an attempt to modernize the traditional songs but, despite an ever-changing lineup, The Bushwackers remain the premier exponents of Australian Bush Band music. The Bushwackers Band released five albums on Avenue Records and this CD contains what is considered to be The Best Of The Bushwackers Band.
Waltzing Matilda * Theme From Ben Hall * Lime Juice Tub * The Flying Pieman * To The Shores Of Botony Bay * Flash Jack From Gundagai * Clancy Of The Overflow (recitation) * Dick's Pig * Annie * Ballad Of 1891 * Stringybark Creek ( The Ballad of Ned Kelly) * Ned Kelly's Tunes * Theme from Cash & Co * Marijuana Australiana * Rain Tumbles Down * And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda
